POSITION: Night Shift Production Supervisor

SITE/ LOCATION: WESTONARIA FACTORY
REPORTING TO: FACTORY MANAGER
Purpose of this position
To effectively manage resources (machines and people) with the objective of producing quality and quantity products according to customer requirements and according the Mill standards and objectives.
Job Competencies / Key Performance Areas

Operational Excellence
- Leads a Shift based team assigned to the plant
- Plan the plant operations to ensure the maximum utilization of the resources (raw materials, energy and people)
- Manages the execution of production activities (shuts, start-ups, checks, log sheets) to sustain quality standards and plant efficiency
- Recommends maintenance/upgrade/replacement of existing equipment to optimize production efficiency.
- Assess and manage abnormal plant conditions to ensure plant stability

Ensure Safety and Environmental Compliance
- Understands the SHEQ requirements of the Section
- Maintains a high level of good housekeeping in the workplace at all time
- Ensures Behaviour- Based Safety (BBS) observations are conducted according the plant objectives
- Monitor employee’s performance against SHEQ requirements and corrects non-conformance

Engaged and Developed Work Force
- Ensures on the job and off-the-job training activities
- Monitor and adjust employee roles and responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to annual fixed cost, renewals, and overtime budgets
Requirements

Qualifications and Experience
- National senior certificate (Matric) with Supervisory Certificate
- Safety Qualification will be an added advantage
- 3-5 years’ experience in cement plants and general supervisor experience

Knowledge, skills and attributes
- Basic understanding of mining and Timrite products
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft packages
- Good communication skills (written and verbal)
- Excellent report writing skills
- Valid Driver’s License
- Understanding of Plant Operations and equipment layout
- The ability to plan, organize, monitor and co-ordinate resources in order to meet with business goals optimally

Job specific working conditions
- Willing to work shifts, long hours, overtime, weekends and public holidays
